Chinese Language

The Confucius Institute at the University of Helsinki provides a comprehensive set of Chinese language courses, from beginners to advanced level, and spoken Chinese for communication.  The academic, credited courses are offered to university students while other learners can obtain the Certificate of the Confucius Institute demonstrating their levels of achievement. The skilled Chinese language teachers working at the Confucius Institute come from China through our Chinese partners. The Confucius Institute encourages students and learners to participate the HSK Chinese Proficiency Tests which are arranged twice a year to test their progress and to provide recognized certificate of their Chinese language skills. In addition, advanced students have possibility to participate in annual Chinese Bridge Competition that takes the winner to compete in China.

Chinese Culture

Chinese culture, including traditional and contemporary culture can be explored through Chinese cultural performances, festivals, guest lectures and courses. The Confucius institute initiates and organizes various high level cultural events in cooperation with Finnish and Chinese partners.

Research on China

The Confucius Institute at the University of Helsinki initiates and manages academic research on China in cooperation with the University of Helsinki and other academic partners in Finland and China, particularly with the Renmin University.  The Confucius China Study Plan with six subprograms and research topics (100 topics in eight categories) provides an extensive platform for study in China.
