Research Title and Abstract:

Consumption and Sustainability: Towards a Social Scientific Understanding

Consumer behaviour will have to change rapidly and on a massive scale if there is to be any chance of approaching current international policy goals with respect to climate change. Recognising this, I will direct a significant part of my research to understanding how consumer habits change. In particular, my investigations will involve the specific application of the perspectives of practice theory to the central issues of sustainable consumption. Work will be primarily theoretical and conceptual, using secondary sources.
