Introduction

HCAS Writer Programme enables the Helsinki Collegium to invite one or two writers per academic year to work at the Collegium. The aim of the fellowship is to reinforce interaction between research and art by sharing insights and engaging academic researchers and artists in dialogue. The programme, funded by the Alfred Kordelin Foundation, strives towards mutual enrichment across the boundaries between scholarship and art.
The invited writers work in an interdisciplinary research environment. The fellowship enables authors to concentrate on their creative work and in return they contribute to the activities of the Collegium. They give lectures and arrange workshops, such as monthly conversations on topics of interest.
The Writer Programme scholarships are invitational and the Collegium requests suggestions for fellowship recipients from Finnish and international literary institutions and organizations. The first holders of the Writer Programme fellowship will join the Collegium in 2012.
