Jani Marjanen

Jani Marjanen is doctoral student in the Academy of Finland–funded project Early Finnish ‘Debates’ at the Centre for Nordic Studies (CENS) at the Renvall Institute in Helsinki. He also acts as the secretary of the seminar-series Conceptual History and Related Items also affiliated with CENS. He holds an MA in history (2006, University of Helsinki).

Previously he has worked as a coordinator of the Network for the Study of the Public Sphere (homepage in Finnish only) at the University of Helsinki and as an assistant editor of Historisk Tidskrift för Finland (homepage in Swedish only), a Swedish-language historical journal published in Finland.

His academic interests focus on late eighteenth-century and early nineteenth-century Finnish and Scandinavian history, conceptual history and the study of the public sphere from a historical perspective. He is currently working on a dissertation on the political language of the Finnish Economic Society. He teaches irregularly at the Renvall Institute.
