This Master’s programme seeks to create synergy by enhancing academic cooperation and mobility between the universities of neighbouring countries. Bringing together the resources of the partner universities is expected yield mutual advantages by creating new opportunities for the study of various new aspects of the neighbouring country and by providing each of the partners a larger spectrum of historical study. The programme is also expected to develop expertise and educate specialists able to contribute significantly to the development of their respective countries and of the region as a whole.
The focus of the curriculum
The curriculum focuses on Russian and Northern European History, but always with a broader European and global perspective. Our intention is to develop profound expertise in the core substance of the main topic while improving the skills required for the production of new scholarly work as well as the ability to enhance one's learning skills. These are essential for all academic experts. Moreover, we also emphasise cooperative skills, communication skills, information and communication technology skills and openness and readiness for international interaction, based on language skills in English and local languages, networking and knowledge of different cultures, and of European culture in particular.
