This software contains an implementation of a Bayesian model-based method for detecting recombination events in bacterial populations using DNA sequence data.

BRAT is now available as v2.0!

The BRAT software is intended to be used in tandem with the BAPS softwarefor Bayesian analysis of genetic population structure !!

NB Mac OS X version of BRAT v2.0 is not yet available due to compiler problems, we provide the upgrade as soon as they are sorted out.

Download the BRAT software package for Mac OS X (PowerPC). Download and use this script file in X11 terminal to start the software, see point 6. in the BAPS installation instructions here (i.e. replace the BAPS script file name with the BRAT script file name in the commands).

The software code was written by Pekka Marttinen, and the Bayesian model has been developed jointly by Pekka Marttinen and Jukka Corander. Details of the method are given in the paper:
