Studies at the Department of Biosciences

Courses and lectures are presented by majors (see left).
The main teaching language at the department is Finnish, but there are lectures and courses where teaching is officially given in English.
Exams can be taken in Finnish, Swedish or English, and the questions are prepared in these languages if needed or specifically requested when a student registers for an exam. The actual book exams are almost exclusively based on international textbooks which are written in English. For the few textbooks in Finnish, alternate texts are available in English.
Courses. All teaching staff speak English, and arrangements are commonly made in courses to include foreign exchange students and other non-native students.
Lectures are generally given in Finnish, particularly elementary ones, but the source materials and books are mostly in
English. The student should consult the teacher for possible supplementary or alternate materials and texts.
