Plant Biology covers plant sciences from the molecules to the ecosystem level. Topics in education and research are: the physiological adaptation to various environmental changes, molecular and cell biology, systematic based on plant and fungal phylogeny and evolutionary history, and plant population ecology and ecosystem ecology. Human impact on plants has become important in plant research concerning physiological events, systematic and ecology.

Plant Biology aims to give all plant biology students a well balanced view on all subareas within plant biology. In Master of Science level studies students will concentrate on one of the following lines of study:

After finishing their degree plant biologists work as experts in e.g. environmental administration or in private companies. Plant biology is also an excellent choice for school teachers. Plant genetics is taught in close association with plant biology, and by choosing alternative courses or side subjects students can modify their degree toward specific needs.
