I started my PhD studies in March 2000. Plant mitochondria and their role in plants experiencing oxygen deprivation stress has been the focus of my studies, and mitochondria isolated from roots of wheat seedlings (Triticum aestivum) , and two iris species, garden iris (Iris germanica) and yellow flag iris (Iris pseudacorus) have been the plant material of my PhD studies from the beginning. During the last years I have been studying the function and regulation of the mitochondrial F1Fo-ATPase under oxygen deprivation stress.
