Welcome to Algal Systematics and Biodiversity homepage!

Our research group works on various topics of algal systematics and biodiversity. The major projects wer are currently running deal with the biodiversity of planktonic organisms in the Baltic Sea and sea ice as well as on other systematic questions on algae and protists.

Besides using te traditional methods of studying the morphology we use molecular systematic methods (e.g. DNA sequencing) to resove the relationships between and within various algal and protist groups.
