Welcome to e-LUP website!

e-LUP is a STREP-project within the FP6 thematic area: Sustainable development, global change and Ecosystems, funded by the European Commission from 1 st Sept. 2005 to 31th July 2008..
The main goal is training in ex-ante Sustainability Impact Assessment (SIA), especially for land use issues and the main output an electronic freeware textbook and tool in parallel English-Russian.
The overall goal being Sustainable development ... to succeed, Integrative or Sustainability IA has to pay attention to all “three pillars” of sustainable development, that is environment, economy, society (right),
...but, above all achieve holistic integration of the sustainability dimensions, making a proportionate analysis of impacts and integrative weighing of their importance in particular issues and policy options. |
|
End-users of the tool are primarily policy makers, desk officers at EC, but also professionals from land-use and spatial planning sectors, students and teachers, scientists, local stake-holders, industrialists and NGO’s … in brief, people who need to accurately assess and understand complex impacts.
Diverse activities (see Methodology) contribute to reaching the project goals and we have to involve a large number of people in a continuous and open work process. This process will be mediated through the Project forum pages where you will find e.g. deliverables, central documents and forms.
