Facilities

One of the goals of the network is to promote collaboration and sharing of Nordic capital – both intellectual and material – between the participating laboratories. Here are listed the specific equipment and facilities available in participating laboratories. If you are interested of utilizing these resources, please contact respective group leaders.

Aarhus

  • DNA laboratory with quantitative PCR and protein expression equipment.

  • Drosophila lab and temperature rooms.

  • Access to fieldstation at Rønbjerg.

Helsinki

  • Molecular biology laboratory (2 automated sequencers: ABI Prism 377 and Megabace 1000).

  • Access to well equipped and manned field stations in different parts of Finland (Kilpisjärvi, Lammi, Tvärminne).

  • Aquaculture facilties.

Holar College

  • Fish breeding and experimentation facilities.

Silkeborg

  • Ecophysiology laboratory with large climate rooms, programmable freezing cabinets. Permanent cultures of various soil invertebrates available (earthworms, springtails). HPLC and TLC apparatus for analysis of small organic compounds (sugars, polyols, amino acids etc.).

  • Laboratory with all necessary equipment for ecotoxicological studies of terrestrial invertebrates. Equipment for analysis of heavy metals (AAS, flame and graphite furnace).

Uppsala

  • Molecular biology laboratory (ABI 310, access to ABI 377)

  • Six 1.6 * 1.6 m aquaria fitted with UV-B and greenhouse lamps for performing experiments with UV-B radiation

  • Large climate rooms for experiments demanding extensive space (both freshwater and terrestrial facilities)
