Network activities continued through 2007.
NONESTRES's activities centre around the study of
environmental stress and its effects on different biological levels of
organization (gene, individual, population & community) utilising
approaches from different biological disciplines including physiology,
ecotoxicology, evolutionary ecology, quantitative genetics and molecular
biology. The general mission of the network is to increase Nordic
collaboration and cohesion - both in research and post-graduate training
- in the cross-disciplinary subject area environmental stress research.
NONESTRES’s activities include arrangement of a yearly workshop and
provision of opportunities for Nordic student and researcher exchange by
funding 7-30 day visits for participating laboratories. In addition, the
network strives to promote more efficient utilization of Nordic
intellectual and material research and training capital, as well as
cohesion between basic and applied research.
