L eadership of scientific research programs:

  • Director, Finnish Acidification Research Program (HAPRO)
  • HAPRO consisted of  about 20 individual research projects during 1990-2004 with the research budget ranging from 5 000 to 150 000 euro. The total  a research budget of HAPRO was about 8 million euro.

Teaching experience:

About 25 courses in the field of environmental science and policy for undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Helsinki in 1997-2004.

  • Participation in more than one hundred international scientific seminars, workshops and conferences in 1978-2004.
  • Member of editorial board of Environmental Science & Policy.
  • Member of the Organising Committee for the XX IUFRO World Congress in Tampere, Finland in 1995.
  • Member of the Organising Committee for the 3 rd International Acid Rain Conference in Gothenburg, Sweden in 1995.
