Microinjection and Imaging unit
Microinjection and Imaging Unit of the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences in Biocenter 2 serves research groups and individual researchers of the Viikki Biocenter and also groups in other institutions in Helsinki. Service is also provided for commercial users. In microinjection techniques we give full service, assisted use of the equipment and independent work in the unit. Our staff provides training and consultation concerning the techniques. The unit organizes practical courses at under graduate and graduate level. The instruments of the unit consist of two sets of microinjection instruments. One is Eppendorf semiautomatic injection unit connected to Zeiss Axiovert 100 inverted microscope and the other one is a Narishige manual injector connected to a Leica DM IRB microscope. Both of the instruments are equipped with camera and computer. Cell culture facilities such as microscope, incubator and laminar are available in the injection room. Microinjection and Imaging Unit is funded by the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences and Biocentrum Helsinki.
