RESEARCH PROJECTS

The focus of the research
Apply both the cDNA/ oligo and CGH microarrays in cancer (breast, gastric and head and neck cancers) to study genes whose expression has changed due to altered gene copy number (deletion or amplification).
Characterize the most interesting genes biologically and functionally to identify promising targets for anti-cancer therapies.
Apply and develop novel microarray platforms, including NMD, lysate, cell and functional microarrays for the target validation and integration of the DNA, RNA, protein and cell level data.
Develop novel bioinformatics-based tools for the analysis of microarray data.
Study the HOX gene family of transcription factors and their role in systems biology of cancer.
Identify genetic variations predisposing to complex diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases, multiple sclerosis, osteoarthritis, discus degeneration and mental health disorders using SNP microarrays.
Monitor for genetic variations predisposing to complex diseases in large epidemiological study samples.
Apply oligonucleotide microarrays to study gene expression differences in multiple sclerosis.
