Non-graduate studies

-

It is possible to apply for the right to participate in individual courses offered by the Faculty. This study right is called in Finnish “erillisten opintojen suoritusoikeus” and it is widely used, for example, for professional development or to obtain required additional studies.

The official decision is made by the Dean after consulting the appropriate Department.

The student participating in non-graduate studies is not able to apply for student accommodation or join the Student Union and he receives neither password nor user account if it is not required by the course work. However, he/she will be given an official transcript of records after the work for the courses is completed succesfully.

Non-graduate studies are subject to a fee which covers teaching arrangements and learning materials and other teaching-related services. The fees are to be paid before studies begin. As of 2012, the fee is 10 € per credit.

However, there is no fee if the studies are related to the professional eligibility of various teachers, according to the national legislation these studies are always free of charge.
The deadlines for applications for non-graduate studies is  April 30 for the autumn semester and October 31 for the spring semester.

The applicant must show that they have a good knowledge of the language used (English, Swedish or Finnish).
Please notice that if you come to Finland outside the EU/EEA countries , the non-graduate studies are usually not considered a good enough reason for granting a visa to enter the country.
