Postgraduate studies

The Faculty of Behavioural Sciences offers postgraduate studies in all its disciplines. According to a decision of the Faculty Council and general regulations on postgraduate degrees:
1) Postgraduate students whose major subject is psychology can choose whether to pursue the Doctor of Philosophy (Psychology) degree or the Doctor of Philosophy degree if the major subject of their undergraduate degree was psychology.
2) Postgraduate students whose major subject is psychology pursue the Doctor of Philosophy Degree if the major subject of their undergraduate degree was not psychology.
3) Postgraduate students whose major subject is one of the education subjects can choose to pursue either the Doctor of Philosophy (Education) or the Doctor of Philosophy Degree.
4) Postgraduate students whose major subject is logopedics, phonetics or speech communication pursue the Doctor of Philosophy degree.
In addition to offering postgraduate study leading to the doctoral degree, the Faculty offers research-oriented postgraduate study leading to the Licentiate degree (Licentiate of Philosophy (Education), Licentiate of Arts (Psychology) and Licentiate of Philosophy) and professional specialist training at the Licentiate level leading to a specialist degree in psychology or speech therapy.
The main feature of the postgraduate degree programmes is the Licentiate thesis or doctoral dissertation based on research and supervised by the departments. The degree programmes also include studies agreed by the student together with his or her supervisor and a representative of the discipline at the time of application. These studies may be structured in a wide variety of ways.
The presenting official for research and postgraduate affairs in the Faculty Office is Research and Postgraduate Studies Officer. According to the guidelines issued by the Faculty’s Research Council, the Research and Postgraduate Studies Officer is responsible for the further development of the Faculty’s postgraduate provision.
