Certificate AuthorityEvery server has a certificate in secure SSL connections (HTTPS, SSL-IMAP). A certificate contains the name and other information about the server.Certificate Authority (CA) is a trusted party which verifies by its digital signature that all information in a certificate is correct and that the certificate is valid. The certificates of the University of Helsinki are signed by its own CA, HY-CA. WWW browsers do not recognize this CA by themselves after installation, the CA root certificate should be installed separately. Note: The previous CA expires at 31st January 2001, and the new CA is valid until year 2011. Those who have previously installed the old CA should install the new CA too.
