UNIX Service

The IT Services maintains unix services for all university students, researchers, staff and organizations close to the university.

The unix environment consist of many servers from different vendors. Some of the servers are for general interactive use and some are dedicated to special tasks (e.g. www-server, file server).

The user account gives access to interactive servers. All servers share a common home directory and the environment has been built has similar as possible between the servers. Some special software (commercial, mostly) are only installed in some of the servers.

The user account is applied from the IT contact person (atk-yhdyshenkilö) of your own department. New students and external customers get their accounts directly from the IT Services.
