Information security at the University
The information security website has information on information security procedures at the University of Helsinki, as well as instructions on enhancing and maintaining information security. Information is the most significant resource of the University, and in practice the operations of the University are dependent on information and information technology. Information security, i.e. confidentiality, integrity and availability must be protected in all forms and processing stages, throughout the life span of the information. Information security is a part of the security system of the University, and it is controlled by the Head of Security, who works at Technical Affairs in the University of Helsinki’s Central Administration. Information security operations are controlled by the Information Security Manager at IT Services. Information security coordinators are responsible for operations at a practical level in campus areas, and information security contact persons carry out this task at the departments. We all have the responsibility of preserving information security in day-to-day activities at the University. Therefore it is extremely important that everyone knows the correct procedures and abides by them.
