Office 2007 Installation to Managed Workstations

The Office 2007 installation procedure contains two phases: file retrieval and installation.

In the first phase the workstation retrieves necessary data for Office 2007 installation. The phase begins with a following dialog:

The note should be accepted with OK button. The machine is relatively responsive during the download and all applications can be used normally. The retrieval time is dependent on the network bandwidth. A minimum of 5 minutes can be archieved in the HU internal wired network. Wireless and/or slow private ADSL connections increase download time.

A following notification is shown after the file retrieval phase:

In the second phase the Office 2007 is installed to the workstation. The installation begins automatically after the next reboot or power-on. The reboot should be done before a long brake (e.g. lunch) or at the end of the working day. To start the installation just turn off the computer as usual and then turn it on again. Leave the computer on during the break or night.

It is strongly advised not to use the workstation during an ongoing installation. Especially the use of Office programs Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and Access may harm the installation. The installation takes 30-60 minutes. The computer is slow and the hard disk operates actively.

The logged-in user gets following notification when the installation is finished:

If there is no messages concerning Office 2007 installation after the login the installation is finished and the computer can be used normally.
