WWW-based update system

The update system is located behind secure connections in this address https://www.helsinki.fi/perl-bin/update. It is required that the browser supports encrypted connections and cookies.

Logging into update system

Login: your unix or novell network username. The novell network username have to begin with a dot and it has to be a complete NDS-name (.meikalai.hum.hy), to find out your context (in this case it is hum.hy), just type cx in the command prompt.

Password: your password.

After a succesfull login you get a list of the keys you can manage.

Using

To rename, move or remove files one just have to tag the 'Mark'-field of the files and choose the command from the buttons after the file listing.

To create a new directory press Makedir-button's field and write a name. After writing the name of the directory press Makedir-button.

To send files write the name of the file to the box before Upload-button (In netscape or Internet Explorer you can choose file with the Browse-button.) After choosing the file press Upload-button.

You can send full directories to the server by making a zip-packet of the directory and sending this zip-packet in 'Unzip'-mode(It is in the popup list beside the Upload-button).

You also can use the 'Rename'-mode. Then the sent files are renamed to be in small letters and the .htm ending will be renamed to .html (like INDEX.HTM -> index.html).

You can edit the files right from the server using Edit-link. To save changes press 'Save changes'-button.
