Using the WWW-Proxy

The recommended way is to use the automatic configuration file at http://www.helsinki.fi/proxy.pac.

Detailed instructions for different web browsers:

Netscape 3
Netscape 4
Netscape 6-7
Microsoft Internet Explorer 4
Microsoft Internet Explorer 5-6 (LAN)
Opera 3.60 (Win32)

If your browser does not support the automatic configuration feature, the proxy is at http://www-cache.helsinki.fi, port 8000.

The proxy incluces virus and malicious software scanning. If you do not want use this proxy, there is a proxy without virus scanning in address http://www-cache.helsinki.fi, port 8080.

In case you already use the proxy, the old settings are functional. However, it is recommended that you update your settings according to instructions.
