Maple Leaf and Eagle Conference of North American Studies
North America as West / The West of North America
May 8–11, 2012
The biennial Maple Leaf and Eagle Conference of North American Studies has been organized since 1986. It has evolved into one of the largest and most prestigious conferences in Europe for American and Canadian studies.
The 14th Maple Leaf and Eagle Conference in 2012 will explore definitions of North America as West, and the West as a defining feature of North America.
Presentation proposals are now invited from all academic disciplines dealing with this subject. The deadline for proposals is November 12, 2011.
Abstracts are welcome on topics ranging from cowboys and Indians to Obama and Osama, from Atlantic alliance to Continental Divide, from Vinland to Vineland. The North American "West" as concept, place, politics, ecology…

The proposal and the bio should not be longer than one page each. They can be sent as a regular email or as an attachment. Please use a regular file format (doc, docx, pdf).
The conference registration fee is 100 €, and 50 € for students.
