Finnish Master's Programme in Russian and East European Studies

The Master's Programme in Russian and East European Studies, coordinated by the Aleksanteri Institute, was established in 1998, and it is maintained by the network of fourteen Finnish universities.

The Master's programme is a unique combination of multidisciplinarity and cooperation between universities, and it offers a greater course supply to its students than any one individual university would be able to offer. In addition to offering courses on Russia and Eastern Europe, the programme arranges a Summer School in Russian and East European Studies, organizes seminars backing Master's theses, financially supports inter-university mobility, creates new opportunities for international mobility and for study trips to Russia and to Eastern and Central European countries.

All students of the fourteen network universities are eligible to apply to the programme. Foreign exchange students can utilize different exchange programmes with Finnish universities and they can benefit from the Master’s programme course supply of their respective host universities.
