A seminar with two education policy experts from the Institute of Education, Higher School of Economics-Moscow (HSE), Russia’s leading think tank that carries out research on the modernisation of Russian education, providing direct policy advice to both the Russian government and international stakeholders.

The seminar includes short presentations by the guests about the role of HSE in education policy formation in Russia and HSE’s current research and educational projects.

Alexander M. Sidorkin is Director of the Department of Educational Programmes, Institute of Education, Higher School of Economics-Moscow. Sidorkin holds a Ph.D. from the University of Washington. He has studied and worked both in the USA and in Russia. His work experience includes faculty and administrative appointments in three American and two Russian universities. His primary scholarly interests are in philosophy of Education and Economics of Education. Sidorkin currently is the Dean of Graduate School at the Institute of Education, National Research University Higher School of Education.

Irina Grunicheva is a research fellow at the Centre of Social and Economic Development School with the Institute of Education, Higher School of Economics. Her main research areas are education inequality, school effectiveness and school improvement. Irina Grunicheva holds a Master’s degree in Education from Moscow Higher School of Social and Economic Sciences.
