The Russian Post in a Smart City

Nowadays the popular concept of smart city has mission of the quality im-proving of life to citizens by use of information and communication tech-nology. The assets of the smart city main domains, such as healthcare, edu-cation, transport, power grid are insufficient. This article is devoted to the consideration of the possibilities of Postal services participation in smart city projects, the applicability of the allocated opportunities in the Russian reali-ties, expanded smart city architecture and models of smart postal services re-alization. The key idea is to integrate information systems services of each domain and Postal assets for extraction of the city data to provide public ser-vices to citizens efficiently and ubiquitously. This research is aimed to high-light the significance of effective data collection, data storage, data retrieval, network resource provisioning using Post services. The research refers to the international sources and considers a high-level architecture for smart city; describes the opportunities of the Russian Post functioning.
