Panel abstract: Language of mass media as a mean of culture transmission

The solution to the problems of interaction between society and culture is impossible without studying language aspects, because language is reflected the cultural human creativity; the language of the mass media is a tool to transfer generated cultural meanings to mass audience. Any mass media text is created by representative of one or another linguistic and cultural community and reflects the values of this community, its culture. Mass media text is a kind of projection of cultural field, this field is affected the structure, substance and linguistic content of the texts of different types. Therefore, learning of language of mass media opens the mechanisms of transmission and comprehension by the society of cultural meanings, cultural schemas and the system of societys values. Particularly promising in this regard is the way of exploring the cultural and educational texts, the main communicative intention of which is an aesthetic evaluation. Thus, linguistic and cultural study of mass media discourse in cultural and educational direction is expected to be conducted in different aspects. One of the ways is study implementation of semantic and stylistic categories. The second way is the analysis of the traditions of deployment the cultural schemes in the text.

The importance of the problem is determined by several factors.

1. Cultural and educational media discourse is one of the most humanistically oriented, the need for knowledge about the methods and techniques of humanistic communication is acutely felt and recognised by society, however in the science of language constitutive features of such discourse have not yet been the subject of special analysis.

2. The study of such fundamental linguistic problem as the semantic structure of the text and scenarios of the deployment in the sphere of mass media is extremely important for actively developing today cognitive studies in linguistics.

3. Influencing potential of cultural and educational texts in full, taking into account their diversity and dynamism, so far not been studied systematically. Meanwhile, the texts of cultural and educational directions are extremely interesting in this respect, because journalists here engaged in an active search for effective impact, i.e. in this area the creative potential of language is revealed particularly intense. The study of linguistic creativity in close connection with the cognitive characteristics of the creator is certainly productive.

In the discussion intend to participate members of Media Linguistic Commission under the International Congress of Slavists.

Scientific problem, which underlies the discussion is verbal aspects of transmission cultural meanings in mass media texts.

Proposed questions for the discussion:

1) the space of cultural and educational media discourse, its content and the border in the Russian information field;

2) main and peripheral cultural and values content transmitting in cultural and educational media texts;

3) communicative practices and speech acts in the transmitting of value meanings via cultural and educational media texts;

4) categorization of value dominants in different types of texts of cultural and educational discourse.
