Satellite seminar at STAKES

ACTUAL DEVELOPMENT TOPICS FROM THE CENTRAL AND EASTERN EUROPE

The seminar "Actual development topics from the Central and Eastern Europe" is organized by the International Development Collaboration (IDC) at the National Research and Development Centre for Welfare and Health (STAKES), which is a financially self-sustainable unit focusing on cooperation with countries in transition and developing countries. The seminar highlights some of the key problems in the countries in transition, looks at present policy alternatives chosen or not chosen, comments on the lessons learnt and discusses future trends. Together, experts and keynote speakers from several Eastern European and other countries will address and evaluate the following issues: poverty, family policy and child protection, the situation of ethnic minorities, alcohol and drug use, HIV/AIDS, and migration.
