News

The interest towards our Perestroika conference has far exeeded our hopes,
and we have received a large number of excellent paper and panel proposals
by researchers from all over the world. We thank you for
this.

Therefore the conference committee has decided to reconsider the number of
panels to be organized during the conference. Our intent is to accept as
many proposals as possible. Unfortunately this has led to a situation,
where we are not yet able to send you the letters of acceptance. We expect
to reach a final decision concerning the size and programme of the
conference by the end of August.

Concerning those applicants who wished to send an improved version of the
proposal, we ask you to do so very soon, so that they can be taken into
consideration.

Additionally, we would ask you to please inform us if you already at this
point know that you are not able to attend the conference after all.

In the meanwhile, we recommend that you visit the conference website to see
what's new in the Cultural Fora section!

Extended Deadline for Abstracts: 18 June

The response and number of submissions has been substantial and of
high quality. Due to the growing interest and the announcement of
several important new components in our series of ALEKSANTERI CULTURAL
FORA

http://www.helsinki.fi/aleksanteri/conference2007/cultural_fora.htm

as well as the delay with which our CfP reached scholars worldwide
(some e-lists have been ponderously slow to act) we have EXTENDED THE
DEADLINE for papers to the 18th of June. For those who have
put up the poster or other notices, please be so kind as to mark this
change accordingly!
