Etappi - System for monitoring and supporting the completion of degrees

The University of Helsinki monitors the progress of all its students. The aim of the monitoring system is to support the smooth academic progress and graduation of students whose studies may become delayed. The monitoring applies to all students pursuing a degree and relates to specific rights to study.

The Rector of the University has decided (Decision No 6/2011, 17 January 2011 and No 95/2013) to streamline the Etappi monitoring system.

The Etappi checkpoints entail progress monitoring based on completed studies (the number of credits or a degree completed).

Students screened at the checkpoints will receive a letter from the University’s Central Administration, informing them of the date by which they must contact their major subject department in order to draw up a study plan. An approved study plan is a prerequisite for registering as an attending student for the next academic year.
