Visiting students

The Faculty can offer a visiting student status (free movers, non-exchange programme students) at undergraduate, graduate or postgraduate level for a student who is enrolled and actively studying at a university outside Finland. The prerequisite is that the courses completed at the University of Helsinki may be transferred to the student's home institution to be integrated into the student's degree programme there. The following documents must be enclosed with the application:

• Official transcript from the applicant's home institution
  
• Statement on credit transfer from the applicant's home institution
  
• Study plan that indicates which courses the applicant intends to take at the Faculty
  
• Language certificate from applicant's home institution
  
• Statement of purpose
• If you have received a scholarship (e.g. from CIMO or the Fulbright Center), please enclose a copy of the decision.

Visiting students receive credit for all of their work, but are not able to obtain a degree. The visiting student status is normally valid for a maximum of two academic years.

An international applicant may also be granted visiting student status, if he/she can give other significant academic reasons for his/her studies at the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry of the University of Helsinki. The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry makes the decisions on admission on the basis of an evaluation of the appropriate department.

Applications for visiting student status are accepted throughout the year. We recommend submission of the application at least two months before the planned period of the visit.

Please, fill in the application form in the electronic application system (Mobility online). Click the "ISEP, Nordlys, North2North, Erasmus (SMP), Visiting student and Freemover applications" icon on the top right corner of the page to start the application. After filling in the application you will receive an automatic email message sent by the system. Next you need to register to the system and fill in more information before the application is complete.

Applications that are not complete, there are documents missing or the copies are not certified by the correct authorities will not be processed.
