Country-specific requirements – legalizing your documents

The University of Helsinki requires that you legalize your application enclosures in the manner described below. Besides being a prerequisite, this will also speed up the processing of your application, as University Admissions Finland (UAF) can quickly identify the validity of the documents.

Bangladesh

If your degree is awarded in Bangladesh, the degree certificate and transcript of records have to be certified (i.e. attested) by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh. Each page of the transcript of records and the degree certificate has to be stamped and signed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh. Copies of copies will not be accepted. All copies must have the original stamp of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh. For further information, see the Ministry's website.

Cameroon
If your degree is awarded in Cameroon, an original official transcript of records sealed by your university must be sent directly from your university to University Admissions Finland in an official envelope of the university.

Canada
If your degree is awarded in Canada, an original official transcript of records sealed by the university must be sent directly from your university to University Admissions Finland in an official envelope of the university.

China
If your degree is awarded in China, the transcript of records must be written in English and have to be submitted through the China Academic Degree and Graduate Education Development Center (CDGDC, 教育部学位与研究生教育发展中心). Transcripts of records submitted directly to University Admissions Finland by the applicant will not be accepted. For further information, see the CDGDC website.

Please mark down your UAF Application Form number into the documents that you send to CDGDC.

Applicants should request a Credentials Report and have it sent directly to University Admissions Finland (UAF):

You should send official copies and official translations of your degree certificate and certificate of graduation directly to UAF, not to CDGDC. You don't have to send your language test results to CDGDC. Please check instructions for language tests.

This is similar to how the SAT or GRE works - students take the test, but ETS sends the results directly to the school. You should call the center, apply for verification, pay the fee (including courier fee), and have the results mailed directly to UAF. Once CDGDC receives the payment and the required transcripts, the Credentials Report is completed within 20 business days. A rush service within 5 business days is also available. CDGDG uses EMS courier service and the fee is charged to the clients.

Eritrea

If your degree is awarded in Eritrea, an original official transcript of records sealed by the university must be sent directly from your university to University Admissions Finland in an official envelope of the university.

Ghana
If your degree is awarded in Ghana, an original official transcript of records sealed by the university must be sent directly from your university to University Admissions Finland in an official envelope of the university.

Iran
If your degree is awarded in Iran, copies of your educational documents must be legalized by the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Finnish Embassy in Tehran. Official translations of educational documents must be certified by the Ministry of Justice. Copies of copies will not be accepted. All the copies must have the original stamp of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as the Finnish Embassy in Tehran.

Nigeria
If your degree is awarded in Nigeria, an original official transcript of records sealed by the university must be sent directly from your university to University Admissions Finland in an official envelope of the university.

Pakistan
If your degree is awarded in Pakistan, the degree certificate and transcript of records have to be certified (i.e. attested) by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). Each page of the transcript of records and the degree certificate has to be stamped and signed by HEC. Copies of copies will not be accepted. All copies must have the original stamp of HEC. Sudan

If your degree is awarded in Sudan, an original official transcript of records sealed by the university must be sent directly from your university to University Admissions Finland in an official envelope of the university.

U.S.A.
If your degree is awarded in the USA, an original official transcript of records sealed by the university must be sent directly from your university to University Admissions Finland in an official envelope of the university.
