Vice-Rectors

The Vice-Rectors provide support for the Rector in leading the university.

The Board decides on the number, selection, and duties of the vice-rectors according to the University Statutes and on the basis of the Rector’s proposal. Upon a proposal by Rector Wilhelmsson, the Board appointed four Vice-Rectors for the 2010–2010 term: 

Ulla-Maija Forsberg (née Kulonen), Professor of Finno-Ugric linguistics, is the first Vice-Rector. She acts as a deputy to the Rector. She is also responsible for academic quality assurance, library affairs, equality and bilingual matters, general international affairs, ranking matters, Hanken-Arcada -alliance, education export and staff policy. 

Johanna Björkroth, Professor of Food Hygiene, is a Vice-Rector in charge of research affairs and research study affairs and innovation activities.

Jukka Kola, Professor of Agricultural Policy, is a Vice-Rector in charge of education and study affairs, data administration and lifelong learning.

Kimmo Kontula, Professor of Internal Medicine, is a Vice-Rector in charge of social interaction, fund-raising, contacts with government research centres and the Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa (HUS) and university centers.
